On Qualifications

Does anyone else appreciate the irony in Republicans whining about the length of Obama's resume? For eight years, the Bush administration has corrupted the government with Brownies and Goodlings who had no qualifications for their jobs other than their willingness to worship at the George W. Bush Cult of Personality. One of my biggest fears about McCain is that he would do nothing to clean out the incompetent ideologues that Bush packed into every department of the government.

    The Republicans MUST make this election about personality (specifically that you can't really trust black people, can you?) rather than the issues or their record. Their policy positions are diametrically opposed to those of the majority of Americans, and we have 8 years of proof that they cannot run a government, so they are going to trivialize issues and push their experienced POW versus that "unknown" and rather scary Obama.

    What I wish is that some unknown group would start exposing McCain's record, including his military record. His combat service can be counted in hours, not to mention his abysmal record at Annapolis and his obvious inability to pilot planes properly (how many crashes were there before he went down over Vietnam?).

    He is a flip-flopper and in bed with the worst corporate lobbyists and the MSM simply refuses to talk about any of this, while they get accused of leaning toward Obama.

    An older lady I work with justioes her vote for Bush by saying "at least he keeps us safe."

    The problem with Liberals and Democrats is that we expect explanations and intelligent dialogue from anyone we'd vote for. Of course, we have our militants who would vote for anyone pro-choice and pro-gay rights, but, for the most part, we support whomever would be the most qualified and stands for what we believe in.

    Republicans, on the other hand, are the very definition of conformist sheep and will believe anything said to them. According to most conservative sources, Obama is the Anti-Christ. I think there's even a website set up in regards to this.

    It will always be a difficult fight for intelligent-living people when the majority of Americans are stupid.

    Excuse more rambling, but, is it any wonder why Democrats took so long to choose our nominee and that Republicans chose some war hero so quickly?

    Much respect to his military record but, since when does getting shot down mean you're qualified to be the "leader of the free world?"
